I’m so excited to tell you, Whitney of Whisker Graphics is now selling a very cool new version of the old traditional baker’s twine, in two unique colors. She promises more to come if these do well, so check this out.

I received mine early this week and it’s gorgeous. It’s thicker than basic baker’s twine, which I love. Traditional twine is more like thread and I’ve been looking for something more like a light yarn.
Her twine is so soft and easy to work with, I decided to make a doily or two, just for fun.
It took almost exactly the 15 yards to make these coaster size doilies. This is actually how I’m storing these for use. When I need some twine, I’ll unravel a bit of it as I need to. In the meantime, I have a pretty lacy thing to hang on the wall in my workspace.
I have more that I’m storing wrapped around clothespins and tucked inside a mason jar with the rest of my novelty threads & strings.
Why clothespins? Clip the starting end and it stays in place to wrap. Then, leaving a little at the “nose” of the clip exposed gives me a place to “pinch” the end so it doesn’t come unraveled.
Finally, the clips will stand on their “legs” and even rest on the edge of a box or jar while I’m using it, so it unwinds easily, without bouncing all over, as a traditional spool would do.

The doilies are genius! I love how you always come up with creative and pretty ideas for ordinary things,
Ditto what Sara said! I’d like to start adding more “beauty” into my “efficient” stuff (and into chaotic messy stuff too, but that’s a different issue…)
Saw these at WhiskerGraphics – and think it’s brilliant. I can’t stand it when things get tangled or pick up whatever lint or crumbies that migrate into the drawer I might keep it in. And now, you’ve eliminated the drawer and I can’t thank you enough.
Hi Carly, it’s nice to meet you, and you’re welcome. I’m thrilled to hear you’ve found my ideas helpful.
I know what you mean about tangling string. I’ve bought string before that, when I got it home and tried to spool it, the twine tangled to the point of having to cut it in multiple places just to get it undone. So frustrating.
Out of life’s tangles come fun new solutions! :)
wow, these ideas are fabulous! I love the way the doilies look with bakers twine, I think I might finally get myself some of it to make doilies!
Wow, that is beautiful. I love it!
