How to: Crochet Pennants

Written on November 25, 2009 // Design 1 Comment

Here’s a project for you if you’re like me and don’t leave the house on black friday (I’ve worked retail enough in the past to have seen too much to ever make me want to shop)!

ATTENTION BEGINNERS — you can do this!!!

Don’t freak out because this is so easy, really, if you’ve ever done a simple back and forth thing, like a pot holder, coaster, or scarf, you can make pennant triangles too. Watch!

Seasoned crocheters you might hate this because it’s just not complicated enough. :) Here’s what we’re going to make:

You’re going to start at the tip and work outward to the top of the pennant to whatever size you like. Mine are about 5 inches.

Row 6 – hdc across

Remaining rows – Repeat rows 5/6 back and forth (watch it grow!) until you get the size you want, then fasten off.

That’s it! Now, make as many as you like and run some twine or string through the tops of your pennants and hang them up! Make tiny ones to wrap around your tree too… so pretty.

I made some from my twine, and was able to get two pennants from each spool, though any plain old yarn will do.
